Lakes hosted the inaugural NLCC Battle of the Books on Thursday, February 21. Eight teams from five NLCC schools participated in the challenge, which began in October. LitWorks Teen Book Fest is a free teen event where you can meet six YA authors, including Kendare Blake, author of Three Dark Crowns. It will take place on March 2 in Norridge, IL. Lunch is provided. More information is available on the website. Let Mrs. Mason know if you have any questions.

In 2009, District 117 checked out 69 different textbook titles to students. This year, only nine years later, we checked out 27 titles. That’s 42 fewer titles. Evidently, teachers and students alike are turning to digital sources for their curriculum development and information/research needs. We want to remind you to keep databases in mind.
